The development process runs through so many different procedures, levels, clarification and confirmation between so many different individuals. Keeping all these game design work in an individual’s mind is not at all an easy task. Therefore, well thought out game design documents with awesome ideas and concepts need to be documented and reworked to make all efforts worthwhile.
I feel all aspects are important in a game design document which includes a solid introduction to the viewer about the game document, the instructional design, game design, art, programming, data analysis, and logistics should be properly documented to keep all who are involved on the same page. As this involves teamwork there will be room for improvement, experiments, new ideas, and new concepts although these should be all aligned with the initial documentation. This way of organization of the instructional game design documentation will save hours of frustration and headache if needed to be changed in between the game design process.
The game base design work involves several people and entities of work. Even a minor learning game is a measurable outcome (Warren and Jones 2017). I was amazed to note that a single project plan or a target date of completion has not been involved in the designing process. Considering the improvements, feedback, and modification that goes through the game base design document, and effectiveness to an evolving educational specialty I believe that project-based deadlines do get incorporated. Project-base target deadlines will facilitate the wheel moving with the help of all teams and with piece of good knowledge on the deadlines with realistic expectations.
With the higher order thinking skills of the learners today a higher pedagogical skill requirement need to be of consideration as more complex and challenging games been designed and more skills it is going to hit. Students love feeling empowered an encouraged that lead to a growth mindset. Learning is no longer a memorization activity or a dull learning process. Students have been involved with much more interactions to a game-based fun and activity life outside the school environment would be thriving to get the same environment inside the school. Therefore, the pedagogical reflection exhibiting the effective learning process would need to be included how game-based learning reflects the longer retention of information from the different learning processes.
