Technology Based Learning Environment – Canvas so far…..

Completing the rough version of my full course into Canvas, made me go back to run through the design document before the submission of the final word document. Some of the point considered were as follows:

  • The document setting and the overview to be as simple as possible for the reader to understanding.
  • Have a clear mapping structure of the modules and the work involved for every week, as Action Research is subject of their own reflection.
  • Drawing up the marking system to be reasonable of achieving.
  • Re-run the process and making sure that both the design document and Canvas LMS displays identically.

Below are some of the revisions and incorporations that were carried out:

  • The infographic sketched all the imaginary thoughts into a visual content off the text-based information and was made to share with the peers as part of action research step 6, process “reporting results” realized this was the ideal as practiced for students to share with peers as part of the contribution to a collective knowledge base which proves as a rewarding aspect of their work
  • Uploaded the file for the initial knowledge quiz as this was not properly incorporated before, the questions were entered into the quiz module.
  • The document “What is Action Research by Richard Segor” was uploaded as a reference document for easy access.
  • Created a separate content for the reference documents.
  • Created and added the rubric for the Infographic
  • Text colors were changed for better appearance

“We all need people who will give us feedback. That’s how we improve” Bill Gates

Constructive feedback from your peers is effective as it forces one to think through the design again and again. Having double peer reviewers brings more excellence into the design document as different thoughts come into place. I received comments from my peer reviewer on course overview and modules which led me to re-check all the modules. While taking these into consideration I have made some adjustment to the final instructional design document and have updated the Canvas LMS module, which led me to inserted the citation in the overview page. The structure remained the same although I am still trying to find better methods to communicate through the Canvas process. This experience can be a powerful both ways, as a student, they learn the skill to review documents and they also learn to take up correction by others and learning through this process. This week I gave constructive feedback to my other team member, my earlier peer reviewer while I realized that It was an advantage of having to review another design document while gaining knowledge of another design process.
