Topic: What other methods interested you from those discussed? Why?
One of the other methods that I am interested in is the online qualitative research method. This is with one-to-one interviews and focus groups. With the present situation, there should be alternative methods to carry one research and one way could be the online qualitative methods. Surveys are done online, the collection of large amounts of data in a short time which is flexible, cheap, easy, and fast.
With the intended research topic, I must obtain data from the UNHCR offices I presume this method would be ideal to go forward. As per Sharp, (2018) some of the benefits of these methods facilitate the ethnographic qualitative research project, while participants being in their own environment, they will be more open, and focus groups could be easier to organize.
Through remote access, there will be opportunities to observe the interviews and the focus groups this way data collection can be checked whether it is genuine, some of the challenges faced with remote interviewing is whether the interviewer will show more power than the interviewee. In the use of online and mobile technology, there is also a cost involved. It is also noted that on ethical practices and policies how the consent is obtained and the possibility of withdrawing from the study can be done by the participant.
The other method is action research that is used in the field of education. Teachers always experiment and reflect continued improvement with teaching and educating others. With this method, teachers can explore teaching, curriculum development, and student behavior. This process will promote faculty to focus on current methods and practices to improve the classroom, online, and other training applications and how they could improve the use of tools and processes in the current situation.
How would they apply to LT?
The research applied for understanding, describing, or addressing the practical problem is common in the learning technology field this could be a current instructional related problem or test new technology, pedagogy, process, or curriculum that seeks to improve the use and the value of approaches, processes, and tools. These questions further the why, where, when, and how the problem exists and to understand the questions, problem, or phenomenon of study. The online qualitative research method describes what is happening by means of questioners, interviews, observation, and other empirical approaches that fall on to descriptive research used in learning technologies. This research method also falls under the exploratory research used in learning technologies that investigate the problem that has not been studied in the past but conducts the research to better understand the existing problem of teaching and learning in refugee camps.
How did you feel about your ability to write research proposals and designs after the discussion and the semester’s work?
Although practice makes it perfect, I feel the semester work has given me the depths of understanding between quantitative and qualitative research and I have the ability to write the research proposal considering the methods, conducting the literature review, identify topics, questions, problems, or occurrence to study on the types of collection of data, analysis and produce and report the finding.
What did you think about writing up the results?
Being in the education field, there are so many processors that can be improved to better serve the learner. Identifying the problems either that has studied in the past or conduct research to better understand the existing problem. This helps to determine the next level of action and to improve this by finding a solution to the problem by design, methods, and participants who can help to better understand. These leads the way for need assessments, process evaluation, and for research outcome that incorporates together and write up a qualitative research study.
Do you feel confident in your ability to write for one or more of the purposes (conference, article, chapter, etc.)?
I think I am more confident and can research into problems analyze and decide the way forward in writing research articles. One of the areas I like in my education is to do research trying to better the systems to move forward. Although I wrote some researched articles when I studied for my masters it seems that these need to be updated with more thoughts and the experience that I gained along the way and share these articles to get more publicity. I enjoyed the semester and learned more details about research practices and hope to take this forward.
