Reflection

How do you feel about research in the learning technologies field? What do you plan on exploring as you move forward?

Learning technology involves a broad area of technology-enhanced learning, online learning, flexible learning, distributed learning, mobile learning, distance learning, wearable technologies, simulation, learning environment, learning spaces, pedagogy, open educational practices, and social media. Research in learning technology is to study that could enhance acceptable practices and contribute to policy development.

Technology is advancing, so does the education and learning methods, and I feel these will be forever changing with technology advances. Hence the field of learning technologies will research for well-establish empirical studies to enhance and support the education field. These studies will be built with the most well-produced research from the past that builds to the future. Human behavior is numerous and complex and takes time to develop and analyze the impacts that affect society.

Although I like statistics and exploring assumptions with numerical data, I also prefer analyzing through observation, which directs to detailed qualitative studies, understood and interpreted. Research that falls under formal that required forethought and data is gathered as opportunities arise or practical problems a current instructional situation or test new technology, pedagogy, process, or curriculum meant to address a problem. Identifying and testing have been my norm while having been in the technological field in my previous job, challenging me to find a solution. However, this has changed to finding a research solution or dive into investigating the relationship between two or more variables, establishing the relationship between the variables, and producing correlational research.

I am thankful to Dr. Scott Warren for all the hard work in creating the PowerPoint presentation that explains each research study. These were a great help in the study process, which will be an immense help through our doctoral classes as these will be convenient guideline references throughout our future studies… Thank you, Dr. Warren. It was privileged to study under you and for your guidance in the research process.
