Assessment A
Was there anything about defining the problem that you were concerned about?
Problem-solving is an act of defining a problem; initially, this step was more challenging, and I wondered whether the selected problem was a real problem. Thinking this further, I separated by figuring out the cause of the problem, who is affected by the problem, and what the solution could be. To come to this decision, I had to refer and listen to Professor David Merrill’s YouTube channels repeatedly, referred to Gagne’s nine principles and Charles Reigeluth’s design theories and his research finding. As per Professor Reigeluth’s keynote speech, there are many methods to achieve goals; through research, we need to identify the best plan for different situations.
The other concern that I had was the model to be used, whether this could be with a canvas, VEE, or can this be developed through Articulate 360 or Storyline. It would be best to get the requirements clear before proceeding with the development work.
Assessment B
What was the experience of thinking through defining your product idea and creating a visual depiction of what the components may be? What did you like and/or struggle with?
Designing and creating the visual representation component was something that I enjoyed most. The design aspects brought back memories of my previous education and work experience of being a programmer. Before embarking on the program, I had to complete flowcharts to solve the information technology problems. Moreover, the Visio maps were done for network diagrams and for structuring the network cabling paths.
While creating the visual, I elaborated on some nodes so that the path could be more straightforward. As a picture is worth a thousand words, the complex idea will explain to the reader with a single structure. Although it would have taken a bit of time, the visual representation conveyed could not be verbally explained, which will also grab attention. The only struggle I had with Lucida Chart was that I could not log in to my account the following day after I created the visual diagram and had to re-draw again with a different login, and this practice made it perfect.
Assessment C
What are you anticipating will be challenging in Task Two? What resources do you feel like you need?
The challenge will be joining a team and working together to accomplish the common tasks, going through the posted problems to develop a product solution, and working as a team. I opted to work with Alex as his problem, and the visual representation of the engineering components resembled my ambition and the work that I wanted to create. With my discussion with Alex, I see we have the same vision to provide education to students who have difficulty gaining access to internet connectivity. The plan is to develop an application. With my previous instructional design work and project management experience techniques, I do not see much of a problem completing task two.
With Dr. Warren’s permission, I hope I will join this group to complete the assignment for this class and take this further into the application development process. With the research I have carried out with solar-powered hotspot and raspberry pie, I would be able to help get this project to the next step and strive to make this a success.
