Method selection: Case Studies. The method I exploded was case studies that can be examined in-depth with a single individual, group, or event. The study can be descriptive and explanatory studies can be compared, evaluated, and understanding the different aspects of the research problem.  Case studies are grouped in sociology that raises the question of “how do the children learn while being in a refugee camp or in a remote area where there is no power?”. The use of a case study is to explore the situation in depth. Depending on the aim of the study the analysis can be done in both quantitative and qualitative. Data can be collected in case of studies through questionnaires, interviews, observation, or written accounts by the subjects. A case study has 4 sections (1) selecting a case (2) Building a theoretical framework (3) Collet your data (4) Describing and analyzing the case.

Selected method: Qualitative method – Case Study

Why I decided as my top choice: The scope of my dissertation is to build a learning tool using solar-powered energy to facilitate learning towards the refugee, and remote student populations with offline or online (closest location) internet facilities. I also want to connect XR extended reality that could help the refugee communities to reconnect and discuss the heritage of their homeland or get knowledge about the country that they will be resettled in, which will be beyond the refugee camp. Education is a foundation for enhancing people’s lives to achieve sustainable development. Education will provide them a purpose in life to learn, get trained, and prepare for a better tomorrow. The idea of sustainability will include methods, approaches, and solutions to cover problems.

With case study research design, I would be able to collect and analyze the data using ethnographic studies “learning from people” that involve cultural groups. The process will involve observing, detailing, describing, documenting, and analyzing the lifeways or patterns of culture within their environment. I could also use ways to interview people who are familiar with the background and patterns of life. Using the Grounded Theory, I would be able to collect data, analyzed it, and then develop the theory that will be grounded in the data.

As per Tiwari et al., (2016) the advantage of a case study is that it provides detailed information more than what is provided with other methods e.g., surveys and information can be gathered from various techniques.
