Reflection about what I learned about analyzing education/learning systems from the in-class activities and readings. How I felt about the complexity, the different picture from my own and other systems and what makes them up, and the challenges to understand the small systems like those of an individual student?

The intended complex system I visualized for the Task 1 was within an educational system. However, visualizing placing this into a complex human system was somewhat tricky, and I was unsure whether this was on the right track. Many problems and issues came to my mind, including whether this was a complex system according to the requirement. It was a challenge to determine whether the analytical tools of systems thinking, soft system methodology, and creative mindset of the human-centered design was within the complex system. Moreover, I could find the required research to match the system I was trying to explore.

Activity 1 of analyzing an education learning system was drafted by the group members. These were shared and discussed through slack on the last meeting day gave almost a clear picture to move ahead with our activity of developing an education system, and my system, as part of the analysis problem, was an element inside the education system. More time was taken by referencing back and forth the reading done for week five and other research articles to get confirmation whether the system thinking was an impact solution that can drive into the lasting solution. Earlier in the reading, placing all the points together was challenging, but as I read many articles about the unclear points, this gave me some ideas, e.g., the micro-, meso-, and macro-systems, the CATWOE.

I now understand that each person sees complex problems from different angles or situations, creating a complex educational system environment is challenging, and developing a solution has multiple steps for improvement and requires changes and improvement to the system over time. The solution to a more extensive system could be through analysis of the minor system that connects to a more extensive system, reducing the problem solution’s complication. Starting with task 1 and comparing both system solutions, I feel it directs me to the correct analysis framework I have in mind.
