Reflecting on my topic of “sustainable education with solar powered energy to underdeveloped society” has changed over and over again within these two and half years of my journey towards the doctoral program. As I plan for my dissertation, I have considered the comments received and moved forward to cater to what I feel is needed for learning in this society. Even though my topic changed along the way, my main focus of providing education through solar-powered energy has stayed the same. I have re-routed my topic to serve better not only the refugee population but all others who has an essential requirement to learn and has made way by focusing on a technology system incorporated with Moodle learning management to provide education to these population that is an affordable solution.

During my doctoral program, I saved these articles under the Mendeley reference manager as and when research articles were written, or articles that fit my topic came across. These have been separated under topics of refugee research and education, Raspberry pie, solar-powered energy, teaching, and learning, learning theories, qualitative research and MOOCs, and philosophy of education. These folders add to around two hundred and thirty. However, these are yet to be verified whether these are still required and are within what I require for my dissertation. Some articles that had been saved previously were obsolete as I have managed to fix the technology part of my dissertation, and now I move towards finding different articles that fit the newer development.

Gathering the twenty articles this week made me organize the selected articles properly in the Mendeley reference manager that needs to be built up in the coming months as I move toward my dissertation proposal. This week I was also concentrating on my research plan presentation for my portfolio defense, as I looked more closely at the articles that I selected as I was moving towards the grounded theory, which was more closely towards what I want to do in collecting data than ethnography. Collecting the articles gave me the heads up that I am getting closure to the achievement target. Thinking of getting closure to my dissertation was scary, and the work that needs to be planned and actioned as I move along, but on the other hand was encouraged to move forward by achieving and completing the program as soon as possible.
