What did you accomplish on you research design work this week? Who did what? What did you discover you needed in terms of resources that you were missing?

The research design work for this week was on task 5, the evaluation plan for a technology implementation or systemin change. Competing task 4 and starting with task 5, we realized; first, it was similar, and with a brief meeting with Dr. Warren, the doubts were cleared, and we divided our task five work taking five evaluation components to research, analyze and write an evaluating plan for our problem. Alex completed the degree to which the goals and outcomes are met, values of the implementation components, perceived usability of the learning technologies to stakeholders, the degree to which users could use the technologies according to the implementation plan, and perceived quality of the learning technology integration plan. Thiru completed the adequacy of the number of available LT units to support stakeholders, how often the technology was used, is the technology replacement cycle appropriate concerning demand, where digital and physical resources are needed to support users adequate and training plan for each group of users. Likewise, I completed the human resources for training and support, a timeline for training and re-training, a plan for just-in-time training and support, an evaluation mechanism for the training and support resources, and an evaluation mechanism for the return of investment with the learning technology.

While writing my tasks, I felt some questions were similar to task 4, although task four was the implementation components and task five was the evaluation. I realized that for evaluation to be successful, there should be a proper implementation of the project. Hence while working on task 5, I always compared what my written reflection was. I enjoyed writing my evaluation as I re-checked my implementation components and at times re-wrote it and changed my thought process on the implementation and completed my evaluation. I had difficulties in finding most of the research work to our problem. Still, on the other hand, this allowed me to reflect on my experience and develop innovative ideas on how to evaluate the project.

I also had difficulty understanding how to set forth the evaluation mechanism for the return on investment, but attempting this question was more transparent with our meeting with Dr. Warren today. I will write according to the gathered information on how to measure the return of investment. As always, it was mind racking exercise, but I enjoyed the challenge every time.

For the prototype work, what have you completed this week? What is your plan for next week?.  What knowledge and/or skills did you find that you need, but did not have? How will you deal with this issue?

To my understanding, the phototype on our project is in the later stages of the product or purpose-driven system on how we could test the final product that we have developed. Although the functions and features have not been planned, we will often work or feel or research with a similar final product and designed for specific purposes. Our design will be tested through the agile workflow and practices to ensure we deliver experiences that are great to use and easy to learn and will be an efficient system for the learner.

We would plan to run through all the tasks we have completed to make corrections, re-run the thought process, and head on to the conclusion while preparing for our final presentation and the final paper submission. I have not done an engineering design model before, and this was new to me. Meanwhile, the information technology, instructional design, and engineering fields are all interconnected in teaching and learning with technology. With my information technology experience in the past, instructional technology and project management visualizing the problem and making project tasks were easy, and I enjoyed planning the tasks. This semester has been a completely new scope of learning and a different way of analyzing a problem. I wish we had more experience in similar problems analysis as we go into the world to do these tasks in everyday life.
